Turn Out The Lights, The Party's Over

                                                              Stupidville

With the findings of the court in Ohio we have to face situations that ask questions we don't like to answer. Now, before I launch into this thermonuclear subject I should remind you that I AM a Texan. I view everything north of the Red River with a certain degree of suspicion. I'm acutely aware of how far "those people" can carry a liberal football. That having been said there are certain facts we must contend with.

High school kids will party. I hate to be the one to have to tell you this. You folks in Ohio are lucky. When I was in high school one of the rights of passage was the obligatory trip to Mexico, and we didn't go down there to buy pottery. We had parties. We had beer. We had girls. Boys and girls get together and the age of puberty is a trying time. Still, even with the beer, the get togethers, and the enticement I really can't remember anyone having sex. That sounds strange, doesn't it?  That is because boys of that age are just as insecure as girls are. As a matter of fact, girls are actually more knowledgeable than boys because most Texas girls knew the price of indiscretion may be a baby.

Horseplay at parties did occur, but advances were generally confined to trying to slip your hand over a girl's shoulder and trying to get a quick fondle, a technique I never succeeded with. Texas girls can feel their shoulders. There were girls who drank a lot, but at no time did anyone strip them or put their hands in their shorts. I can truthfully say that at no time in my life have I ever done anything to a girl, or woman who was incapacitated. It's just not decent!

If you will note there were quite a few kids at the party in question that night. The girl was drinking vodka mixed with a slushy, I believe, and she learned what we all eventually learn about vodka. Anything that's easy to drink is dangerous. I would even venture to guess that every time I ever saw something stupid vodka was somehow involved. Now, if you understand that there were many kids involved you must ask yourself why did the two young men in question commit the act that they committed?  There are two major components. First off, entitlement. They, being on the football team were the "superstars" of the party. Football players stand a head taller than all the other kids in school, both figuratively, and physically. All the girls run to them, and they can usually beat everybody else up. That's why when I was in high school we never invited those guys to any party. The second factor is knowledge. The boy penetrating the girl knew how to do it. Frankly, I was eighteen before I had the guts to do that and then SHE had to teach me.

There is a third factor, also. That's why I call this blog, "Stupidville." What kind of an idiot takes pictures of a girl he's molesting, and puts it up on social media, even texting and bragging about it. This is the Texan part coming out, but only a Yankee would do something like that! Why did he do it? Entitlement. No fear of retribution. Treat a young lady like a piece of meat and then destroy her self respect. She was there for HIS entertainment.

These young men will pay for that party for the rest of their lives. This sounds brutal, but it rings back to an earlier blog I did called Deep Survival. In life there are decisions that cost dearly. These young men have just learned that lesson in a serious way. Life is not a video game. There is no "start over." Liberal theory teaches us to set the rules where every child is a winner. I'm sorry life doesn't work like that.

And the young lady? She will heal. She may even eventually feel badly for what has happened to the boys. She shouldn't. Even with the vodka, the party, and if or not she was passed out, a young woman has a right to hang out with friends and not be molested. She, too learned a valuable lesson. Actually she spit the hook. She is not pregnant and doesn't have an STD. The kids will pass the final judgement. More than the lawyers, or the judge they know what really happened that night. Ultimately they will exact the judgement on all concerned. And their verdict will be just.
